FDIM 2005

Below are some photos taken at FDIM and Dayton.

There was a get together, mostly Flying Pigs and Fist folk at a Ryan’s restaurant.

There were several friends from Germany, and apparently they are pretty advanced over there. There was a lot of talk about Directional Bat Detectors, and infrared links, and some talk about Morse Code PSK. We also had some fine discussions with them about radials, and how you don’t ever need them,  and conjugate matching. But to me the most exciting thing was about a beer can antenna with over 53 db gain when compared to a ½ Wavelength dipole. I’ll let them announce the details in QRP-L

Here are some photos from FDIM on Thursday.

It rained most of the day and into the night, we had a few leaks in the tent, there was some water on the floor but not much. Due to shutting don of the formerly used hotel they had to get something in a hurry.  Next year they have a large conference room reserved.

This is my 3rd FDIM and I thought these were the best speakers I Have seen at FDIM.

Photos from Vendor Night, Lot’s of neat toys

There is a lesson to be learned here, I bought a cheap camera for the trip, due to poor lighting and the lights being in the field of view  I ended throwing about half the pictures away.

These gentlemen had some toys that made me part with lots of money, inexpensive Power Pole Distribution panels, I ended up buying several, they have a real small inexpensive model for field use, I’ll post a picture later

Pictures from Dayton Boneyard, I didn’t take too many photos, which is a shame the cheap camera did better with natural lighting.

I found this truck fascinating, fully equipped and functional.

Pietro and his fine paddles and keys.

Inside the Hara Arena, again the cheap camera ate the batteries quickly and if I didn’t noticed, the pictures didn’t come out good so I ended throwing a lot of photos away.

I’ll post more pictures later in the week after I get a chance to clean up some of them.
